Sailing onboard Sound Thinking

Sound Thinking is a 32' Catalina 320 sailboat with plenty of room onboard. There's lots of space to store your gear down below so don't worry about bringing too much stuff.

Location

  • Sound Thinking is docked at Harbor Island Marina in Seattle.
  • The boat is on 'C' dock. The gate is opposite the restroom block. Give me a call, send a text, or just wave if you see me so I can let you in.
  • There is plenty of parking at the marina at weekends.

What to wear

  • Dress warmly for the conditions - it can be cooler out on the water than on land.
  • Bring an extra layer in case you need it.
  • Wear non-marking shoes ideally without heels. Running shoes, sneakers, or soft every-day shoes are good.

Safety

  • Watch your footing on the dock - it can be slippy.
  • I have life jackets for everyone. Please wear one while we're underway.
  • As you move about the boat, keep one hand free to hold on to something.
  • In the very unlikely event you think the boat might hit something, do not try to get in the way. The boat is heavy and has lots of inertia.
  • Keep your head down - that big metal beam at the bottom of the sail swings from side to side as the boat changes direction. It can cause serious injuries if you get in the way. I will warn you before it moves so don't worry.
  • If we're lucky enough to have good wind to sail then the boat will lean to one side away from the wind. This is normal. There is a big lead keel under the water that stops the boat from tipping over. It won't tip over. Ever.
